Company Slogan

Wisconsin is an outdoorsy kind of place.  A lot of people up here engage in outdoor sports that vary with the seasons and there is a large population of people who hunt and fish.  Wherever you have a lot of hunters and people who fish, you are going to have taxidermy businesses.  My friend, Kori, spotted a vehicle on the road displaying the following slogan for a taxidermy company:

"I'd Mount That"

Few things make me bust out laughing, but that did it.

Winter in Wisconsin

Winter.  It arrived late.....but it arrived.

Picture above is looking down the Court we live on.  (can't see our house; it's tucked up to the left of the house straight ahead at the end of the Court.)

It is very wintery indeed.  Snow on the ground and c-c-cold.  The other morning when I got up, it was 4 degrees here.  This morning it was a balmy 16.  At least yesterday it was bright and sunny.  That always helps make it feel a little less cold.   What also helps is a little of this:

Tequila.

In the form of margaritas as Pasqual's.

Winter Schedule

I just booked Scott and I to go see:

Blue Man Group at the Overture Center on January 25

Viva Las Vegas at Fireside Theater in Fort Atkinson on February 18

And Cats at the Overture Center on March 17.

I'm so excited about all of these performances.  We haven't been to either place (Overture Center or Fireside Theater), but we have heard great things about both.  And, it will be at a nice pace to get us through the winter.

Winter Has Finally Arrived

This time last week, we cooked out on the grill.  Today?  Lots of shoveling.  We have several inches of snow on the ground and it's still coming down steadily.  It started this morning about 7:30 and it's been snowing ever since.  Fortunately, it's a light snow.  The fact that it's falling for so long is what's making it accumulate.

Snowing.  Cold.  Wind blowing.  Ahhhh......a little winter weather feels good.  Of course, we always enjoy the first snow.  It's all the ones after that we don't love quite so much. :)

My camera battery died just as I started to take some pictures.  I only got one shot looking out from our garage across the street.  You can see the snow falling in the light from the light post.

Yup.  It's winter in Wisconsin.  Finally.  It was bound to happen sooner or later.

Check Out This Article

I keep chuckling about this. You really only have to read the first sentence to get it, although the number of times the dude's name is written in the article is also hitting me funny.

Scott read the name and said with more than a hint of disgust, "Yeah, that's real f**king awesome", and that's also making me laugh.

Cook-Out

We grilled out pork chops for dinner tonight.

A cook-out.  On January 6.  In Wisconsin.

That's how mild it is outside right now.

Strange...but so good (the weather and the pork chops).

Global Warming?

It is January 6.

There is no snow on the ground in southern Wisconsin.

And temperatures have been about 50 degrees the past day or two.

It feels downright balmy with that warm, damp feel of spring air.  I like it....but it's a little unsettling.....

Happy New Year- 2012

2012?

Really??

Ready or not, the New Year is here.  Scott and I typically stay home and lay low on New Year's Eve.  This year, however, we ventured out to a party at our friends' house; James and Kori.  We had a great time.  Kori and James just live "up the street" from us.  That would be "up the street" as in about a 9 minute straight shot up Hwy 51, a country-ish road between Stoughton (where we live) and McFarland (where they live).

Picture below is Kori in the middle, my fat ass on the left and Randee (works for the same company as me and Kori and is Kori's good friend) on the right.

Next is me and Randee, with James in between being silly.

Speaking of silly, Randee and me partaking in the Pink Moscato.  (yes, you read that right-- Pink Moscato)

More silliness....James and Scott...

The evening was very fun.  Much silliness, as you can see.  Excellent food.  Good stiff drinks.  Lots of laughter.  It was a nice way to ring in the New Year.

Tomorrow...back to work.
